Slightly Less Angry.

Well surprisingly Sony e-mailed me back and told me to download the latest version of the SonicStage software which transfers tunes to my Hi-MD player. I was rather shocked on how timely they responded. I guess cause I explained to them that it was a $400 dollar music player and I ended the e-mail with a polite ultimatum:

"Please do not ignore this e-mail."

I wonder what I would have done if they did ignored me. Gone postal in the Sony Store? Guess we'll never find out. So the updated version of the software lets me transfer back my own files that I created as many times as I want. So I hope I won't run into anymore problems. Also found out that my uber WMA variable bitrate rips from my JetAudio program were not reconized and automatically converted to ATRAC3plus at 64 kbps. Are you with me so far? That means that some sound quality escaped during the process of ripping the songs from CDs and putting them on MDs. So I decided to just use SonicStage for ripping CDs (the newer version Sony provided me works a lot better). But the problem was picking a format. I tried MP3 format at 256 kbps, but I found that the previous ATRAC3plus at 64 kbps sounded better. I know it's weird. So I decided upon ATRAC3plus at 256 kbps. The downfall of picking the format is that it makes .oma files on the computer, so the use of them is boondoggle unless it's being played on my MD player.

Sorry if this is all poppycock to you, I really have nothing else to post tonight. I guess my original dreams of recording my vinyl records to MDs as sort of like a music library are crushed. I wanted to invest a lotta money into doing that too. But I think I'm going to use the MD player as what it is. It has it's limitations but that doesn't mean it's not great. I can still record vinyls onto MDs for listening to on the go, that's seems like a good thing. I can still record stuff with the microphone, and now the software won't FUCKING delete it off the MD this time, and I get to put my CDs onto small MDs at near quality sound.

So for now Sony is in my good books.

So tomorrow I take my G2 exit, or rather my G test. Whatever you may call it. Wish me luck. Pray for me. Pray some more.

Peace, love and music.
