This Is How We Do It.
The following takes place between 12:00am to 4:00am
... on Saturday March 4th, 2006.
Cathy and I walk up and make our way to the DJ booth. I take off my jacket and make my way into the dance section of the bar. The normal scene is taking place, girls dancing and white guyss trying to get some. It's the best looking club in Peterborough, the bar in the dance section is all neon blue with candles burning in wine glasses on top of the bar. There are tables in the middle of the dance floor with round street lamp looking lights that illuminate a tiny bit, and along the copper walls is pictures of famous actors and musicians like the rat pack. At the opposite end of the DJ booth is a group of couches made from velvet like material. All the action is at the DJ booth section though, and that's where we stay for most of the night. I put my jacket on a chair by a table right beside the booth. "Here give me your jacket." I say to Cathy, and she hands me it with her scarf, "Thanks!" she says and immediantly starts dancing. I put her scarf in the arm hole, like my mom taught me, and put it on top of my jacket.
Right away they start playing AC/DC and country music, and I'm sort of dancing to it, but I really don't like it when they play that stuff. Only in Peterborough will you get this sort of treatment because they have to please the townies. Kelly's friends Api and Lil come over to our area with Kelly in tow and we all start dancing together. Darel walks by with a peice of paper on his chest that read "kiss me, i'm 23." So I went up to him.
"Happy birthday Darel."
"Aren't you going to kiss me?"
"Um. No."
For those of you keeping score at home, Darel is my ex-girlfriend's roomate. But when I see him around I still say "Hey."
I walk up to the DJ and start to slur out some compliments to him. "Man, that mix is hot, that'ssss like illussionsss in oshawa man." Cause you know, this guy, THIS GUY is THE GUY who did the music at Illusions in Oshawa duing the 90s dance craze. Of course I knew this and wanted to sweet talk him so he could play my request. "Man could you throw in Montell Jordan?" I asked.
"Yeah man, no problem, you got it!" He responded.
And after a couple of ther 90s dance tunes like Superstar by Love Inc, and Whigfield's Saturday Night, he played my track. He also played one of my favorite tunes of the 90s: LL Cool J - Phenomenom. That's such a sexy song.
Api and her friend Lil go off somewhere and Cathy, Kelly and myself continue to dance. I check out Cathy and she is doing some awesome moves, she really knows how to shake it. She looks at me and dances over. Grabs both my wrists with her hand and pins them against the DJ booth. At this point I'm sort of shook, but she then starts to grind with me. Really strong girl. Lets go and continues to dance. Ok, that has got to be one of the hottest things ever happen to me.
Api and Lil return and Api starts to talk to me. "Come on man, you gotta dance better than him." Refering to Kelly. Now that is really Kelly's thing, he's the guy that all the girls say "Wow he can dance." so it doesn't matter if I was better than Michael Jackson, the girls love the tall handsome black guy. "Naw, I don't want to upstage him." I said. She laughed at that and egged me on further. Eventually I just started dancing with her putting my hands on the waist she shook her ass in front of me. Man, her hair smells so good, what is that, peach kinda? I was about to compliment her on her wonderfully smelling hair, if that wouldn't have been the most creepiest thing to say to a girl you kinda just met.
The night is winding down so we grab our coats and leave. There is a fight going on across the road at Vibe, someone is pinned onto a car parked out in front. Continuing along Api is telling me about traveling and school and all that stuff. Just makes me wanna go somewhere, I've never been on a plane before. So she gives me her number and I go home. Instantly being challenged to a N64 wrestling match by Scott, and so we play til like 4am before I drift off to sleep.
What a night.
